Somnath Temple



The Somnath temple located in Prabhas Patan near Junagadh in Saurashtra on the western coast of Gujarat, India is believed to be the primary among the twelve jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva.Somnath means "Lord of the Soma", an epithet of Lord Shiva. The Pran-Pratistha at the prevailing temple was done on 11th May 1951 by then President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

The climate during monsoons keeps swinging between humid and funky . those that wish to enjoy a cool and soothing climate can visit during this era .The temperature during winter season ranges from 10 °C to 34 °C. it's considered the simplest period of for pilgrimage visits and sightseeing. it's the simplest time for those that enjoy a cooler climate.






     
       Somnath Temple is one of the greatest and famous temple of  India. It is also known to be one of the Jyotirlings of lord shiva and is belived to be the place from where lord krishna embarked his last journey. It is almost distroyed 20 times in past. It is an important pilgrimage and tourist spot of Gujarat.
Somnath temple is believed to be the place where lord krishna ended his Lila. This legendary temple has been vandalized numerous times in the history but with the help of some Hindu Kings, the temple reshaped each time.
