Chotila

                                                

                          Chotila is a hindu temple of Chamunda mataji located near Rajkot.  It currently has a population of nearly 20,000. The temple is 1250 feet in height and 620 steps. The aarti at chotila temple is performed in a different way. The aarti starts with the Dhoop and Diyas or Lamps. The aarti goes on with beating of drums and enlightens the surrounding. Chotila was known as chotgadh in acient times. The temple open for devottes from 5 am to 7.30 pm.

                       


                      The temple is situated at the top of the chotila mountain. Famous Hindu film actress Dimpal Kapadia was born in chotila. Saurashtra's most celebrated writer poet, freedom fighter late Zeverchand Meghani was also born in chotila. Today, also the temple is at the same place yet there are many changes with extended hall and steps with carpet for the convenience of the pilgroms. If any one cannot climb the steps , they can pooja-worship doem the mountain.
                                           
                          Their is a temple down where you go for all religion pooja. No one is allowed to stay near the  temple after the evening aarti not even pujaris. This can be stated by the story of a man who slept outside the temple during the night. When , he woke up in the morning he found himself at the bottom of the hill. Its believed there's a lion who protected the maa. So , there's an idol of line near the chamunda maa temple . Poonam is also seen in this temple with huge devotees. Chamunda mataji overcomes the obstacles of the devotees. On festival of navratri , devotees offer sweets to chamunda mataji . Especially  quince , sugar , penda etc.
