Lord Krishna

                                              

                              Sarad purnima is one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar. It is also said that sarad purnima is the only day in the whole year when the moon rises up to all of its 16 kalas which make for a perfect human personality. According to the Drik panchang , sarad purnima is celebrated as raas purnima in the Brij region and it is believed that Lord Krishna performed Maha-Raas with his Gopis on this day. On the night of sarad purnima , the Gopies come out their homes after hearing the sound of Krishna's flute. The Gopis of  Vrindavan along with lord Krishna , danced throughout the night , according to mythology.

                                          

                       In Brijbhoomi the day is known as Raas Purnima. Sarad purnima known by various other names in different belts of the country such as Kumara purnima , Kojagiri purnima , Raas purnima , Navanna purnima or Kaumudi purnima. Devotees also pray to moon god , prepare sweet rice kheer as an offering which is kept under moonlight overnight and consumed as a prasad on that day to all. Hindus believe that Lord Krishna began his Raas-Leela with Radha and the Gopis on the night of sarad purnima .
